Maybe some marker can be put down to commemorate the fallen in heavily fought over regions orbiting one of the planets in the area.
That would be effective and not laggy.
Wreckage while nice, is a lag issue as has been said.

i feel a simple monument would be useful, a stone or some such marking the battle ground with a suitable engraving.
Naturally these things do not come free though, if you have the isk to pour into the battle, then expect the powers that be to charge you plenty of isk to erect this monument to the cloned.

agreed, eve does need a history of itself to be created.
For the old and new players alike there is a sense of place if you stumble upon a feature which references (via a plaque or description) an actual game event that happened.
It adds depth to gameplay and creates a community spirit.
everyone wishes to be remembered but lets not reduce this to "Omega Man slept here" as a blue plate strapped to the side of a station etc.
But the big events and historical moments should have a lasting significance in the game.
